SUMMIT --THE SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY
The Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church exists to equip believers and reach unchurched people in the Mountain Home area. Our goal is to tap the energies, knowledge and experience of this incredibly bright generation of Sr. Adults and mobilize them toward the goal of living their lives for Jesus Christ.
Max Pyron is the Associate Pastor for Sr. Adults. An excitement is in the air as more and more people are coming to realize that First Baptist Church is THE place for Sr. Adults in Mtn. Home.
Worship and Bible Study
First Baptist Church offers a wide range of Bible study opportunities and worship experiences. There are classes for men and women as well as coed classes for every age of Sr. Adult. Bible Study classes meet at 9:45 every Sunday morning. Meet us at on of the welcome centers and we will show you to a Bible study class that meets your needs.
First Baptist Church has two opportunities for worship every Sunday morning. "Victory," our traditional worship service, meets at 8:30 while the contemporary worship meets at 10:00. Sunday evening services are at 6:00. Our Victory service is rebroadcast at 11:00am on local cable television.
Wednesday evening offers a fellowship meal beginning at 5:00 with a wide variety of topical Bible study opportunities following. Many of our Seniors meet together at 5:45 in the Lower Fireside Room.
ACTIVITIES
- Lunch bunch meets the last Monday of every month. We have great food, enjoyable entertainment and a wonderful time of fellowship. We meet in the Lower Fireside Room of the Christian Life Center at 11:30.
- Trips…At various times during the year we go on one and two day trips. These trips are inexpensive and packed with fun and fellowship. Longer trips are planned from time to time and are announced well in advance.
- Mission Adventures…Once a year, usually in the fall, our group takes a mission adventure. We see and experience missions first hand and provide help and support in many different areas from close to home to far away.
- Summit Singers…This is the name of the Sr. Adult Choir. We meet every Wednesday morning at 10:30. The Summit Singers sing for our worship services on occasion, nursing homes and in other venues. Whether you are a gifted singer or just like to make “a joyful noise”, this choir is for you.
Sr. Adult Health and Related Issues
First Baptist Church and AARP have joined forces to provide great information relating to the needs of Senior Adults. Topics include everything from health and related issues to legal and financial matters. This forum is held in the Christian Life Center of our church in the Fall.
Nursing home ministry is a very important ministry to Summit. The Summit Choir ministers to nursing homes in the area on a regular basis. There are people in Summit who are regular in visiting nursing homes in the Mtn. Home area.
